Russ 'Lucky Dog' Scott was the managing editor of The Dispatch for 25 years and authored Lucky Dog Poker, one of the most authoritative columns and websites on the subject of poker.

He attended Marshall University and received his Bachelor's Degree in Journalism. Russell began working at The Herald-Dispatch in 1966 and continued working there until 1982. He then worked for the Moline Dispatch for 25 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of Moline Kiwanis and Rotary

Though he suddenly passed in May of 2012, he is remembered as a "warm, friendly, compassionate man who also was a great poker player, golfer, writer and friend,"  and especially for his "gentlemanly nature," which exuded at the poker table. 

Scott's column, Lucky Dog Poker, is full of tips and strategy for the card game he loved and excelled in playing.
