LOS ANGELES — Creators Syndicate cartoonist Gary Markstein has been honored with a third-place award in the 2025 National Headliner Awards in the category of Editorial Cartooning. The award is one of the most prestigious honors in American journalism.
Markstein’s compelling work continues to resonate with readers for its blend of political commentary, wit and visual impact. His cartoons tackle a wide range of issues such as partisan dysfunction, censorship and social hypocrisy.
Markstein has worked as an editorial cartoonist with the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and a cartoonist with Tribune Newspapers in Arizona. He also co-created the nationally syndicated daily comic strip “Daddy’s Home” with fellow cartoonist Tony Rubino.
Since 1934, the National Headliner Awards have celebrated journalistic excellence at the highest level. The recognition of Markstein’s work in this year’s awards exemplifies the lasting impact of his cartooning since signing with Creators in 2008.
Creators Syndicate congratulates Gary Markstein on this well-deserved honor and is proud to represent his powerful and timely work.
